Parent Viewing?
Parent viewing is permitted provided there are no distractions. Parents are responsible for all children who are not participating in the class. For some children parents' presence hinder their class performance and for others it enhances it. Toward the end of each term we offer a “Watching Week” to encourage parents to take interest in their child's dance class.
Parents are enouraged to stay for all pre-school classes.
Performances?
Toward the end of November the studio has a Dance Concert. It is a low cost, low stress event, and yet still delivers high quality, creative acts without dragging on for hours. The event is a fund-raiser for The Australian Red Cross. The 2009 Concert raised money to help those who need assistance in order to remain at home, for example the elderly. Unlike many dance school shows, the students can sit in the audience till when they are not dancing, so they do not miss out on seeing the other students and the guest professional dancers perform.
Uniforms?
Our aim at Gotta Dance is to provide quality teaching without all the expensive add-ons. We do not have a compulsory uniform, however if students wish to purchase a uniform, we do have a recommended uniform.
Students should wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement and show body alignment. Warmer layers are recommended for warm-up and cool-down.
Ballet students will need to have ballet shoes (leather, canvas or satin with elastic or ribbon laces.) We recommend that girls wear a black scoop neck leotard and opaque pink tights.
“Gotta Dance” tops are available from the studio.
